Hand-Tinted B&W Infrared Photography-Harriet Blum

Fine art photographer Harriet Blum lives in the New Orleans area and spends time on the Florida coast. Harriet has a recognizable style, often described as “romantic peacefulness”, “ethereal” and “dreamy”. Her hand-tinted work was created using an older model Nikon camera and infrared film. Her primary hand-tinted subjects are trees and landscapes. She developed the film and printed the images herself, then hand-tinted each original using transparent oils. Harriet now works with a digital camera, capturing trees and landscapes, or whatever else gets her attention. She still likes to hand-color her images, and now uses pastels. Harriet’s art is available on paper or canvas, and shower curtains, tapestries, scarves and other options are available on her Etsy shop. Custom orders and commissions are welcomed.

Ms. Blum’s work is featured in collections including the New Orleans Museum of Art, Roger Ogden Museum of Southern Art in New Orleans, Mobile Museum of Art, the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago, Loew’s New Orleans Hotel, Ochsner Foundation Clinics and the Daytona Beach International Airport.

Quote from solo pianist George Winston: "Harriet Blum's work for me beautifully captures the essence of Louisiana, the energy of the earth itself and her own pure heart."
